Configuration Options

You will probably want to customise the CMS pretty quickly and fortunately this is very easy! Click CMS-> Administration. Here you can configure all access permissions (via users), give your database objects friendly names, re-order columns, colour code related tables, turn on or off validation etc etc.

SQLCMS uses a very powerful javascript based rendering engine so you can easily customise the way data is displayed, edited or searched.

Related Tables

Related tables are detected automatically by SQLCMS and it does it's best to choose columns to display based on the datatypes in the columns and the column names. Drilling down through related data in either direction (parent or child) is a breeze:

You can edit, add or delete these relationships in the admin system under "Linked Tables".

Column Methods

SQLCMS analyses each column and makes a best guess for which editor you will want to use for it based on its datatype and name. There are a few different editors available for various column types. Clicking on the elipses button, next to DisplayMethod, EditMethod or SearchMethod in the administration system will pop up a Method Editor like the one shown below:

The rendering engine then evaluates the Javascript expression to generate the applicable controls. You can easily add your own rendering methods to the library to extend SQLCMS.

Changing Configurations

It's easy to keep SQLCMS in sync with your database. If you ever add or delete tables, columns, views or stored procedures all you need do is go into the administration system and click the "Rescan" button to load the new objects into the system or rescan a specific object.
